1er álbum completo de esta impresionante banda de Irán que practica un Death Metal progresivo con gran técnica con una depurada técnica donde se mezclan brutalidad y excelentes melodías con influencias en plan NILE, CARCASS, DEATH, GORGUTS, primeros OPETH, MORBID ANGEL...
Jsem dnes znovu ochutnávačem, který stojí před kalichem plným hořkosti, špíny, mokvajícího masa a tmy. Pomalu přikládám dřevěnou nádobu k ústům, marně se modlím ke všem známým bohům a piju první doušek. Ihned padám k zemi, navěky pokletý a mé oči dostanou temný mrtvolný odlesk.
Poslouchal jsem totiž již nějakou dobu novinkové album iránských death metalistů AZOOMA. Ti nám letos namíchali velmi chutný, i když smrtící koktejl, ze starých NILE, GORGUTS, SADUS, DEATH, CARCASS, OPETH, MORBID ANGEL. Rovnou se přiznám, že mi tahle kombinace lehké techniky, tlaku a tmy dělá moc dobře. Nic nového v záhrobí, ale líbí se mi taková ta těžko popsatelná jiskřivá atmosféra, kterou z alba cítím. Řeže to pěkně, to vám povím. A navíc si na své přijdou i fanoušci neotřelých melodií.
Z "The Act of Eye" slyším kořeny všeho death metalového zla. Pánové si s námi i hudbou hrají jako kočka s myší. Občas sice slyším pasáže, které mi úplně nevoní, ale předpokládám, že i ty časem dozrají. Zajímavá je nálada celé desky, která vás nenechá na pochybách, kdo je tady pánem. Poslouchám hudbu srdcem, jsem dalek nějakých jedovatých kritických poznámek a tak přivírám oči před některými "zbytečnými" preludii. Celkově ale ochutnávám z nahrávky stále častěji. Nejraději mám tohle album jako kulisu při čtení knížek, případně si jej dávám do kroku, to když kráčím ulicemi našeho města. AZOOMA jsou zajímavým úkazem, vidím v nich talent. A hlavně! Mě baví jejich prvotinu (ještě mají na svém kontě EP "A Hymn of the Vicious" z roku 2014) poslouchat. Death metalové album, které vás nenechá v klidu! Velmi dobře!

I bow down to this new album by Iran AZOOMA. It is full of hot, spicy ideas which spew from the death metal itself. The songs have unbelievable amount of layers and they feel like a symphony of evil. Yes, this is how would classical musician played if they would decide to play death metal. Progressive ideas are everywhere on this album. However these gentlemen still have their ability to compose raw and uncompromising motives. This album cuts unbelievably, it burns, and it transforms the death itself into a clear pain. Like a river full of rotting blood which although flows slowly it will kill everything live on earth for sure. These guys managed to avoid some unnecessary exhibitions on this album. Everything is on its place so this album is like a very hot spice. "The Act of Eye" is one of my most played albums at all for a very long time. Progressive death metal which doesn´t lack of darkness and it is played with an unbelievable power! Massacre!

Alter, mich hat gerade ein 7,5-Tonner erfasst. Anschließend überrollte mich ein Panzer. Mein dummes Grinsen ist noch immer in meinem Gesicht verankert. Heilige Scheiße! So dermaßen kalt hat mich in den letzten zwei Dekaden keine musikalische Veröffentlichung mehr erwischt!
Mir ist schon klar, dass auch in islamischen Staaten Menschen mit gutem Musikgeschmack und musikalischen Fertigkeiten leben und - wenn auch nahezu immer heimlich - sich in Form einer Metalband ausleben. Trotzdem hat mich die hohe techische Versiertheit, die ausgesprochen delikate Produktion und das Gespür für abgedrehte Melodien überrascht, die Azoomas Debütalbum 'The Act Of Eye' (2014 veröffentlichte das Quartett die EP 'A Hymn Of The Vicious Monster') absolut hörenswert macht, eben auch weil ich dieses Mal keine Presseinfo zur Hand hatte.
Die Formation Azooma wurde bereits im Jahre 2004 gegründet; die derzeitige Besetzung spielt seit 2005 zusammen und präsentiert auf dem vorliegenden Album hervorragend in Szene gesetzten progressiven Todesblei, der sehr häufig an die Spätwerke der seligen Death, Pestilence 'Spheres' oder bisweilen auch an die sphärigen Nocturnal erinnert. Dabei gehen die Iraner dennoch etwas härter zu Werke, vor allem gesanglich. Immer und immer wieder finden sich trotzdem genrefremde Einflüsse (Jazz, New Age etc.) im Sound wieder, und auch vor cleanem Gesang wird man hier zum Glück nicht verschont, haha! Die Soli von Gitarrist Ahmad Tokallou sind einerseits verspielt, andererseits frickelt er sie in Slayermanier herunter (je nach Grundstimmung, die in den entsprechenden Parts vorherrscht). Angenehm und gut auch das stets wahrnehmbare Bassspiel von Farid Shariat. Ach, überhaupt ist hier alles sehr, sehr gediegen. Das Gesamtpaket simmt hier absolut.
Fazit: Eine Stunde richtig geile Scheiße! Ich bin begeistert und zücke die Höchstnote (und da muss ich noch nicht mal einen albernen Exotenbonus berücksichtigen).
One of my favorite labels releasing a great band from Iran. Musicianship is off the charts, Technical progressive death metal! Gorguts, death, Sadus all come to mind when I listen to this…. And with some nice guttural vocals. The rhythms are catchy so they don’t let their technical ability ruin a good song if you know what I am trying to say! Production is nice! IF you listen to this a few times you’ll surely get hooked, I enjoy the bass lines not always following the guitars and I like how dominant the bass is! Has an old school feel overall and even some blackened style tones and riffs! I’m not going to tell you what to do but you need to go ahead and seek this out if your into any of the aforementioned bands.
