HUNG BY THE EYE SOCKETS… That’s really going to hurt and not in my top 100 ways to die if I’m being totally honest with you!
Still you have to love the accompanying artwork that comes with the new three track release from US death metal plague riders ROTTREVORE entitled as you’ll have seen, HUNG BY THE EYE SOCKETS and released through Spanish label XTREEM MUSIC! These three deathly tracks begin with the title track HUNG BY THE EYE SOCKETS and sees ROTTREVORE open this fifteen minutes of gore soaked butchery in truly gruesome fashion! menacing guttural growls mix with vast sections of guitar wankery in the form of intense but a little over done guitar solos whilst the bands preferred method of throbbing double bass drum savagery keeps things moving at a homicidal pace!
For the most part ROTTREVORE’s sound is mired in the old school realms of gore laden murk although their drumming style occasionally hints at more modern day influences. it may be slightly sloppy journalism but you can hear the cannibal Corpse influence at work but then what band of this ilk doesn’t drawn inspiration from the Florida scene of the late 80′s and early 90′s? ROTTREVORE do what they set out to do, play loud boisterous death metal as violently and brutally as possible and its a job they do pretty damn well!
Rottrevore released the fantastic "Iniquitous" back in 1993 and then when dormant.
They reunited back in 2011 and released a three song demo called "Blind Sided Attack" to much praise among the hungry old school Rottrevore fans.
Dave Rotten and his Xtreem Records (ES) picked it up and re-released it this year under the new moniker "Hung by the Eyesockets" (yes, that got to hurt).
The US based trio is now finally back and everyone(?) is looking forward to their next full-length release (no statement has yet to be decleared about this).
Because Rottrevore is just to good to be left alone. Their Cannibal Corpse formula to brutal death metal just need´s to be heard among the death metal horde.
If you like technical yet brutal yet melodic death metal performed with the skills to match this is for you. The production is also right up there. Nice and clean.
"Hung by the Eyesockets" is a fine piece of US death metal done the way is should be done.
La reunion degli americani ROTTREVORE non potrà essere ignorata dai veri appassionati del death metal. Inizialmente la band doveva ritornare in attività nel 2009 in occasione del New Jersey Death Metal Fest, ma se sono reali le informazioni che ho ricavato dalla loro biografia, quella tanto attesa esibizione venne cancellata... per motivi a me sconosciuti. Quindi, risulta il 2011 l'anno della definitiva rinascita per la band della Pennsylvania. Stiamo parlando di un gruppo che riuscì a tenere vivo il proprio operato dal 1989 fino al 1995 (anno dello split) facendosi spazio nell'underground con delle pubblicazioni incredibilmente brutali, importanti da ricordare in questa sede (The Epitome of Pantalgia - Demo 1990, "Copulation of the Virtuous and Vicious" - EP 1991, "Fornication in Delirium" - EP 1992 e "Iniquitous" unico full-length datato 1993). Il nuovo EP "Hung By The Eyesockets" ha attraversato inaspettate intemperie prima di vedere la luce ed è grazie alla caparbietà di Dave Rotten della Xtreem Music (ex. Repulse Records) se oggi possiamo avere l'opportunità di gustarcelo. Considerate che inizialmente Rotten aveva programmato la sua uscita per il 2011, poi, tutto venne posticipato. Comunque, mettendo da parte premesse e problemi vari, finalmente riassaporiamo il gusto malsano dei Rottrevore! Le tracce presenti rappresentano tre colpi di sano death metal d'annata, un assalto frontale che non concede nessun attimo di respiro! L'EP è formalmente ben arrangiato, nonché forte di una prestazione convincente, corazzata dallo storico chitarrista / cantante Chris Weber. In cabina di regia c'è Eric Rutan degli Hate Eternal! Dopo diciotto anni di assenza "Hung By The Eyesockets" rianima i Rottrevore nel migliore dei modi. Dovete acquistarlo a scatola chiusa in attesa del prossimo album completo.
Since the split up in 1995 and with a legacy of one album and some demos, we do not hear any news of ROTTREVORE until their gathering in 2011 for the purpose of playing their one Death Metal. And it is not finished; they also thought to enter on a new phase of creation with the release of a new demo entitled "Hung By The Eyesockets" under the label Xtreem Music.
From the first seconds of this album, the brutal tendency stands directly across extreme riffs and unconventionally made harmonics. The guitars are tuned down far above the standard, which gives a very trashy effect. It should be used to support the brutality of the fanatic playing of the crazy drummer Jesse McLaughlin to hear these pieces. A direction in the choice of the music that makes me think of the well-known band CANNIBAL CORPSE, except ROTTREVORE in its four musicians use more incomprehensible and complex arrangements in the example of the title "Blinded Sided Attack".
The extremely good production behind all 16 minutes of this demo is a feat. A good produced demo as it shows that there is a desire to create and move forward. The art work also explains the topics discussed, and it is like most groups of this kind. A strong return of these Americans repositioned them in the scene of Brutal Death Metal. I expect a confirmation so it can be with a full length in the near future.
