October 1990-1992 Beginnings...
SUPURATION offered its first, self-produced CD, 'SULTRY OBSESSION,' in a limited run of 1000 copies. Their song '1308JP08' established the band's distinctive sound. After releasing several 7 inch EPs on various labels in both Germany and the U.S., several labels took an interest in Supuration. They decided to sign with Reincarnte/Danceteria Records which took them into the studio to record their first album, 'The Cube.' After the release of this album in 1992, the band gained a cult status in the underground metal scene with their musical fusion of Death Metal and Cold Wave styles. Meanwhile, a producer for the movie 'Jack the Fatalist' contacted the band to compose the soundtrack for his movie. More than thirty tracks have been recorded for this project. However, to date they have not been released. Supuration also released 500 copies of a compilation CD, '9092,' that features some 7 inch material from 1990-92.
1993
After touring in 1993, they recorded their final offering on Reincarnate Records, 'Still in the Sphere,' which includes a remake of 'Shout' from 'Tears for Fears.' Before this MCD was put on the market, the band went on a European tour and made a video for 'The Crack,' which broadcast on MCM TV. At this time, SUPURATION decided to break the deal with Danceteria to sign with PIAS France.
1995 Changes...
Supuration then recorded its second album, 'Anomaly,' in 1995. The band's darkest album, it reveals a futuristic view of the day when machines take over mankind. For this album, the band changed its name and became S.U.P., Spherical Unit Provided, to adjust better to the concept. To promote the band and the album, S.U.P went on tour several times (with Suffocation and Coroner).
1996-1998
In 1996, S.U.P. released 'TRANSFER' which has remixes of some songs from Anomaly as well as their 1995 demo. In late 1996, S.U.P signed a three album deal with Holy Records. 'Room Seven' saw the light of the day in November 1997. Once again, the album is concept piece relaying a fantastic story dealing with dreams of an autistic person. Each song is linked to the other as each album of S.U.P supports a unifying concept (like King Diamond 'Abigail'). The texts of the 'Room Seven' songs are printed in seven different languages: English, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Polish and French. In February 1998,Holy Records re-released 'The Cube' which includes their 'Still in the Sphere' MCD without the cover song 'Shout.'
1998
Thierry-Ludo-Fred-Fab Laurent Bessault leaves the band! S.U.P decided to take its time to record their next album, 'Chronophobia.' That's the reason why this album was produced at home in S.U.P. personal studio. They needed a lot of concentration and tranquillity for this new piece of art. Though recorded at home, 'Chronophobia' was mixed in Brussels in a second studio where they could hear the song in a different way. The Loez brothers, guitarists and singers of the band, decided to mix the album themselves because they knew exactly what they wanted in a matter of Metal sound texture. 'Chronophobia' is the story of twins separated at birth throughout space and time, an infernal countdown will eventually bring them together again into death. It's not a pessimist or depressive way of seeing normal life, but simply an original and interesting story across oppressive music.
2001
Time for Angelus. The recording of the album began in July 2001 Recorded during ten days (5 hours per day approximately), then direction St Omer in a small village or one breathes quasi absolute peace, place ideal to carry out the mixing of Angelus. Dany Cavanagh, the guitarist of ANATHEMA was contacted by Ludovic Loez for the narrations parts which make the album even more coherent and makes it possible to be plunged directly in the heart of the universe of Angelus which was released in 2002. This time they ask us about the history of an ancestral subject: Who are we? Where do we come from? Can God, imports his name or the religion which one practises exists you there? Are we human? Extraterrestrial? Or a little of both? S.U.P took part in July 2002 in the festival of DOUR in Belgium. November 2002, realization of the music of a short film "INSANITY". Short film of Fabice Lambot. Written, produced and carried out by Fabrice Lambot.
2003
After some shows, SUP entered the studio and recorded a new album under the name of SUPURATION. It will be linked with their first album "The Cube" and will be released in December through Holy Records. It will be called "Incubation"
