THE GROTESQUERY was conceived in 2010 when both Kam Lee and Rogga Johansson were working together on another project together Bone Gnawer. Rogga suggested to Kam about doing another old school style Death Metal band with a lyrical approach more keen to his previous band Massacre, with a more Lovecraftian themed lyrical format and occult style influences. Kam agreed and also wanted to add some Edgar Allen Poe influences as well as base it upon his own brand of horror fiction, and thus the “Tales of the Coffin Born” was conceived in that same year.
Fast forward 7 years later and two more successful albums later: “The Facts and Terrifying Testament of Mason Hamilton: Tsathoggua Tales” (2012) and “Curse of the Skinless Bride” (2015), and the "Coffin Born Trilogy" is now complete, all released through Cyclone Empire. Now going into their 8th year of existence THE GROTESQUERY signed to Xtreem Music is about to release their 4th full length album "The Lupine Anathema and Other Blood Curdling Tales of Horror and The Macabre" completed with an all new story line which may eventually become known as the "Werewolf Chronicles".
Like the "Coffin Born Trilogy" that came before, the band hopes to ignite yet another foundation for a brand new springboard leap into a new storyline of releasing the beast in man. Still retaining that old school Death Metal sound and yet branching out into avant-garde and Gothic horror and music variations of styles, THE GROTESQUERY brings a uniqueness of style unlike anyone else to a genre of Metal laden with derivativeness.
