RAVENS CREED was formed in 2008 by guitarist Steve Watson (Iron Monkey/ Cerebral Fix) and Jay Graham (Skyclad/ Return to the Sabbat/ Undergroove). Watson contacted his old friends Ben Ward and Martyn Millard from London rock lords Orange Goblin and an enormous iron door slammed in hell!!
RAVENS CREED released the “Militia of Blood Sacrifice” EP shortly after the bands first jam. It received glowing reviews in the metal mainstream press as well as underground metal websites. High on the stench of victory, RAVENS CREED embarked on the “Albion Thunder UK Tour”, covering Edinburgh to Brighton in a crusade of subsonic thrashing death!! To coincide with the tour, RAVENS CREED released a picture 7”EP on Doomentia Records, it also gained stellar reviews and started the bands friendship with Doomentia Records. Due to commitments with Orange Goblin and the constant travelling twixt North and South, bassist Martyn Millard felt he could not commit fully to RAVENS CREED anymore and left in 2009. Martyn’s replacement was Frazer Craske (of Nottingham Thrash legends Sabbat). Frazer had previously left Sabbat and had no desire to play music again but even he could not resist the empty throne that Martyn vacated and joined RAVENS CREED in 2009.
RAVENS CREED recorded their debut LP for Doomentia Records in 2009, it was called “Albion Thunder”, it was very well received by the music press (some mainstream Metal mag writers had “Albion Thunder” in their top 20 of the year!) and fans alike, citing an unholy fusion of Venom, Celtic Frost and Slayer but with punk sensibilities (short songs, no solos).
RAVENS CREED appeared at several festivals shortly after “Albion Thunders” release, including Hard Rock Hell and Bloodstock Open Air, the band were also invited to play a Kerrang! Awards show at the Barfly in London.
RAVENS CREED released a split 7”EP with Ohio drug barons Sollubi in 2010, this proved to be Bens last release with the band, his commitments to Orange Goblin and an almost zealot-like passion for watching Liverpool football club had taken its toll, Ben left in early 2010. RAVENS CREED recruited Al Osta as their new vocalist later the same year, Al’s interests are Kickboxing, Celtic Frost and Serial Killers. The band recorded the “Nestless and Wild” 7”EP shortly after and were invited to play the High Voltage Festival in London, gaining glowing reviews. Fenriz from Darkthrone is a fan of the band and invited them to play the Live Evil Festival later that year, after this, the band busied themselves with finishing their second album “The Power” and contributing a track for the “Voices of Valhalla – Tribute to Bathory” that was issued on Godreah Records 2012. RAVENS CREED played the Morrowfest Festival at Nottinghams Rock City to mark the ten years of passing of Steves’ former bandmate Johnny Morrow, shortly after Frazer Craske left RAVENS CREED early 2012 due to family commitments, he was replaced by local metal stalwart Rod Boston as the bands bass guitarist. Rods first gig with the band was at Damnation Festival 2012 where the band unleashed the new line up and new material to very welcoming and large crowd of Metalheads.
With the recent release of the bands second album “The Power” (recorded at their own Tenko Studios) on Doomentia Records, RAVENS CREED promoted the album by playing Terrorizer Damnation festival.
The band then began working on a new EP entitled “IDI”. However, the release never saw the light of day due to a backlog of releases on their label. This prompted the band to jump ship and seek a new label. Having been aware of the band Avulsed and the label Xtreem Music, RAVENS CREED contacted Xtreem and a deal was struck.
The first release for the label is entitled “Ravens Krieg”. Recorded again at their own studio Tenko Studios Nottingham. “Ravens Krieg” is the band’s third full album and most vicious release to date, and boasts thirteen bursts of sonic violence! Including the albums closing song “Carrion Screaming” weighing in at thirteen minutes! ”Ravens Krieg” is released on Xtreem Music on 1st October 2015.
