For a band that’s as gore soaked as AVULSED is, I must say that these Spanish maniacs also have a strong feeling for melody in their putrid veins. I thought that after the opening track, the instrumental song AMIDST THE MACABRE they would’ve gotten that out of their system, but I was wrong. Melody, mostly in the guitar riffing and the solos, plays an important part in the otherwise heavy and filthy death metal. A song like COMPULSIVE HATER even contains parts that could easily be found on an AMON AMARTH album. The larger part of the album however contains the blood drenched gory sound we’re used to hear from AVULSED. This statement is backed up by such colorful songtitles like: HOMELESS NECROPHILE, EXORCISME VAGINAL and of course the title song STABWOUND ORGASM. Colorful indeed, won’t you say?
On the whole I don’t expect any fans of this Spanish band to be disappointed by this release. It contains all the ingredients we expect from AVULSED including the clever songwriting and guttural vocals of Dave Rotten. A save bet for gore lovers all over!
