Comment:
Debut mini CD by this italian featuring ex-HORRID members that plays the purest swedish Death Metal from early 90's in the vein of NIHILIST, CREMATORY, early NECROPHOBIC, CARNAGE... Recorded & mixed at Sunlight Studios!!
If you love old 90’s Swedish Death-Metal then you will not go wrong with DAEMONIAC’S – “Lords of Immolation.” Sludgy and heavy Death Metal sounding guitars, with mandatory repetition and a small hint of evil melody, this will bring a tear to a glass eye in fans of CANNIBAL CORPSE, DISMEMBER, and ENTOMBED. It was noted by fans who have already heard this EP that in a strange dialectical process, new subgenres, while fantastic and unique, always bring bands that rigid back to the subgenres roots. DAEMONIAC has this reactionary force to it.
Hailing from Milan, these walking dead Italians obviously set out to write their Metal with bones true to the Death Metal skeleton. Back breaking, skull-crushing riffs come paired with machine gun drumming and throat-cancer vocals… of the guttural sort. “Lords of Immolation” brings back the graveyard stench of 90s Death Metal. We can congratulate this band in their trueness to Death Metal antecedents, and give the nod to their newly formed alliance with Xtreem Labels.
Generally, the songs are of fine rotten meat flavour (taste some IMMOLATION and CANNIBAL CORPSE to experience the aesthetic), with a spice of satanic melody. We even get some of purgatories Doom and Sludge. These songs will cause brain haemorrhage in live audiences – a welcoming event that will prepare fans for the zombie apocalypse. When there is no more room in hell, “Lords of Immolation” will join the ranks and slay any subgenre that has a “core” in it. Any band starting out that can sound true to its historic antecedents is worthy of a 5 star.
So here is to real Death Metal that is complex, oh so slightly Melodic, Doomy and Sludgy, heavy and generally rotten to the core.
Coming form Italy this is the debut recording of this brutal Death Metal band. Five original songs and a cover of the mighty CREMATORY (the Swedish one of corpse!). Still, although brutal and with a quite personal sounding production, a bit muddy, but quite appropriate for the style, I think that the band still needs to develop their sound. Most of the songs have a similar approach, and although the brutality level is high, the riffs are not exactly memorable. Missing that hook that some other bands in a similar style do possess. The final product reminds me of the American band IMPRECATION although not as deadly for now. But we have to remind this is their first work, and if they can work out their composition techniques and keep their style intact, darker days seems to be ahead.
Disponibile via Xtreem Music.
Forming in 2013 and featuring former members of Horrid, Daemoniac unleashes their debut EP. It’s a simple no nonsense half hour of rancid death metal.
After a nice 30 second intro the band blast into 'Away From Christ' it’s apparent from the get go that the band are heavily influenced by the Swedish death metal of the 90’s which is no mean feat. It is the sound they have aimed for and they have captured it brilliantly. Everything you want is here, 'Demonic Possession' for example, you have shredding and blast beats one minute and a grimy punky mid section the next. There are some great slow doomy moments also. The whole EP has that earthy, dirty sound that sounded so great on those early Entombed and Dismember albums. There is a pretty cool cover of Crematory’s thrown in for good measure. My favourite is actually the closing track “Lord Of Immolation” which starts off slow and murky and builds up to a great chugging climax with of course plenty of shredding!
All in all if you like a bit of Swedish flavoured old school death metal you will no doubt lap this up. However, as the band progress I’d like to see them develop more of their own sound. In the meantime though this will do fine!
Vamos a ello.
