¡Moñigo, mi banda favorita sobre la cual poder hacer una divertida disertación! Y digo todo esto porque realmente resulta ser la banda más fácil del planeta de presentar gracias a su temática ‘marrón’ y de la cual uno podría contar 100.000 chistes fáciles para ir abriendo esta reseña. Pero coñas a parte, vayamos a diseccionar al trío madrileño y este nuevo opus que traen de la mano de Xtreem Music. En clara ascendencia tras editar “Copromo” en 2006 y el compartido en CD con Mixomatosis y El Muermo en 2008, este año que da sus últimos coletazos, dan rienda suelta a este “Coprometidos Con La Causa (Shit & Honor)”, el cual supone su esperado debut por muchos de sus seguidores y fans repartidos por todo el globo terráqueo, sobretodo de habla hispana.
Este CD, sin que suponga una bocanada de aire fresco dentro del género, hay que reconocer que tiene ciertas fases muy originales, y lo más importante de todo, es que engancha y es terriblemente pegadizo. Y es que a pesar de que mucha gente pueda tomarse a coña a los chicos del barrio de Fuencarral, se ve a kilómetros de distancia que saben muy bien lo que se traen entre manos, desde concepto, sonido a composiciones.
A las ya conocidas y características letras y títulos con trasfondo divertido y cachondo (títulos como “Las Tias Buenas No Cagan”, “Cagando En Argüelles”, “La Nota Marrón” o “Coprovoyeur” dan fe de ello y me sonsacan una carcajada), siguen en sus trece con trece (valga la redundancia) temas repletos de ‘groove’ en forma de Goregrind de alta calidad, con estelares apariciones en forma de intros y característicos estribillos y riffs ‘juguetones’ influenciados mayormente por formaciones como CBT, Impetigo, Mortician, Rompeprop o Tu Carne mismamente.
El sonido es francamente sorprendente, siendo nuevamente grabado y mezclado por ellos mismos (en concreto por ‘Daviti’ – guitarra, programación y coros), pero esta vez han acudido al ingeniero de sonido Domingo Patiño (GG Producciones), productor de música Pop y comercial para darle un toque final a la producción bastante significativo y al cual pagaría por haber visto su cara y saber sus impresiones a la hora de trabajar con semejante material explícito. Para completar el trabajo final, cuentan las abominaciones invocadas por Phlegeton Art Studio (Disgorge (Mex), Avulsed, Wormed) en lo que a diseño se refiere.
Baterías perfectamente programadas, bajo siempre presente durante todo el CD con momentos puntuales donde destaca con ‘slaps’ interesantes, riffs ‘morcillosos’ o voces gorrino-guturales perfectamente entendibles y que no abusan del uso de ‘pitch-shifter’ y derivados, hacen que encuentre todos los elementos de este “Coprometidos Con La Causa (Shit & Honor)” en su debido sitio y nada suene cómico, solo su flatulante humor.
Sobre los temas, quisiera hacer mención especial a unos clarividentes ejemplos, como el nuevo término que se podría acuñar a “Coprovoyeur”, un tema de Gore/Grind sinfónico y bombástico (¡Sí, como lo leéis), donde parece que los británicos Bal Sagoth hayan cedido sus orquestaciones al trío madrileño o “Salcedo's Adventure”, donde cuentan con la colaboración de Noel Kemper (Altar of Giallo, G.S.R) o el tristemente desaparecido locutor Jota (La Hora de la Carniceria), en un aire muy primeros Carcass. Y es que Moñigo son una banda totalmente descarada, donde mezclan sin pudor alguno Gore/Grind con Swing/Jazz de los años ’20 como “Coproposicion Indecente”, quedando el popurrí de una manera muy llamativa.
Y es que el status y fama que han cosechado en estos últimos años en Sudamérica y América Central, es para echarse a temblar, con auténticos acérrimos del trío madrileño y de su música, rindiéndoles tributo musicalmente y…”no tan musicalmente” (no daré detalles, podréis imaginároslo). Para acabar esta reseña, como diría el añorado Fernando Fernán Gómez: “¡A la mierda!”
Mayo del 2011 es la fecha elegida para materializar en forma de full-length, el primer trabajo de MOÑIGO, “Coprometidos con la Causa (Shit & Honor)”, a través de Xtreem Music, que tras una Demo del 2006 y un Split del 2008, nos deleitan con un Death/Grind gorrinoide exquisito y en toda regla como bien indica su nombre.
Llegan desde Madrid, con un toque de humor negro característico del género, con sus “Intros” narradas de cortes de pelis antiguas y escatológicas, como bien exige su condición más Grind. La verdad es que, a parte de la temática “coprofílica”, con lo que te vas a encontrar en este CD no es nada nuevo.
Pero por lo menos estos chicos, cantando en castellano, hacen que de algo se entere uno (y que conste que no me gusta la música en castellano), pero intentando ver las cosas desde un punto de vista objetivo, no lo hacen mal, aunque al final siempre hablan de los mismo, mierda, mierda y más mierda, jajaja. Joder sus letras parecen el mitin de turno del futuro presidente del gobierno, en el cual solo se habla de mierdas y mentiras.
El nivel técnico de su instrumentación y composiciones es más que aceptable, junto con una producción digna y limpia hacen que “Coprometidos con la Causa (Shit & Honor)” no defraude para nada, es muy recomendable para los que son seguidores de este estilo, (y para los que no también, merece la pena pegarles una oída, te lo vas a pasar bien).
Aunque tengo que reconocer que en un principio yo personalmente era reacio a darles mi voto de confianza pero a medida que los escuchas, y te metes en este lodazal de excrementos malolientes y pegajosos (se les coge cariño joder), te das cuenta que detrás de toda esta fachada de cachondeo y mierda, se esconde un buen trabajo.
Yo incluso he llegado a compararlos con los MOJINOS ESCOZIOS (pero en Grind claro), jajaja y es ahora el momento de pedir disculpas y redimirme, porque este disco está lleno de buenos riffs, con baterías despiadadas, una voz súper gorrina (que para mí es lo que menos me gusta, pero ni que decir que es lo que exige la naturaleza y condición de su música y queda bien), y un sonido de bajo magnífico, que destaca mucho.
Aside from rather groovy guitar melodies, Spain's Monigo have a strong take on Death n' Roll, drawing on influences that are as widely known as Six Feet Under or as brutal as Mortician. Aside from the hybrid of English and Spanish song titles (in Death Metal one can rarely tell the difference), Monigo take a somewhat humorous approach rather than the straightforward death and gore themes that so many Death Metal bands tend to flock to. When considering tracks like "Lord Of The Gas" on the band's full length debut album, 'Coprometidos con la Causa (Shit & Honor),' it can be pretty hard to take the music seriously. However, Monigo's performance isn't one to scoff at because it is funny; it is really quite vicious. Invoking thick, churning guitar chugs that are similar to Debauchery or Torture Killer to get the groove going, tracks like "Fecal Deluxe Party" are easy to get into and won't give anyone a headache. The vocals are very much like Chris Barnes of Six Feet Under- earlier days- with their deep roar but not including that high pitched shriek that so many fans tend to find annoying. Like a lot of Death n' Roll, right from the first track the album is pretty much set up. Monigo try to keep things simple and somewhat repetitive, aiming on the luck of the groove to keep fans gravitated, but they have a few other tricks up their sleeves.
Adding to the humor of the situation, the band often includes brief radio spoken word sections, much like a random advertisement right at the beginning or end of a song, such as on "La Nota Marrón." It serves as a slight distraction rather than adding any depth to the album overall as it might feel like someone is watching their favorite program and suddenly a storm watch broadcast will interrupt everything. Whether or not it will be appreciated is up to the listener. On another track- "Coprovoyeur"- Monigo throw in some clever symphonic arrangments, and this little touch suddenly makes the song monumentally epic, despite how short it is. Fans will probably find this the most exciting track on the album simply because it is the only one there. It breaks up the montony of just the guitar, vocals, and drums thumping away, making it feel like the score to a big movie with Death Metal included. The band tries to do similar things with other tracks such as the horror themed "Zombie Shit Eaters" with the screaming and sirens in the background, but it doesn't do the music justice as it appears only every once in a while for brief moments as opposed to throughout the entire track, and orchestras are much better in big doses than sirens or screams in any dose whatsoever, save as for a brief interlude or beginning- not during the song. Still, when all is grooved and done, most Death Metal fans in general have a solid album to rock out to. 'Coprometidos...' avoids the usual blastbeat plagued style while retaining an easygoing groove that is still fuzzy, heavy, and certainly brutal.
Hiszpania jest naprawdę ciekawym krajem pod względem muzycznym. Dźwięki metalowe, które przybywają do nas z Półwyspu Iberyjskiego, są bliższe kanonom brazylijskim niż europejskim, a w środku Starego Kontynentu utarło się stwierdzenie, że Hiszpanie tworzą egzotyczny metal. Niedawno wpadła mi w ręce debiutancka płyta zespołu o wdzięcznej nazwie MOŃIGO, pt. „Coprometidos con la Causa (Shit & Honor!)”. Metka przypięta kapeli przez wytwórnię głosiła, iż mam się spodziewać gatunku „Copro Gore Grind/Death”. Grind, grind, grand... No ok., będzie Cannibalowo, obleśnie, obscenicznie i wulgarnie. Mniam... Czytając tytuły utworów, nawiązujące do chorób układu pokarmowego oraz fekaliów („Fecal Deluxe Party”, „Lord of the Gas” czy „Coprovoyeur”) stwierdziłem, że czeka mnie ciężka praca z napisaniem paru zdań o „dziele” madrytczyków. Zaczynamy... „La Nota Marrón” rozpoczyna się urywkami z telewizyjnych wiadomości hiszpańskich - łudząco podobna do otwieracza „Mind Cannibals” rodzimego KATa. Grooviasta do bólu sekcja gitara-bas w połączeniu ze SLAYERową perkusją i wokalem, który ja nazywam „pork-growlem” (bo bardziej przypomina odgłosy dochodzące z chlewu niż deathowy ryk) spowodowały pojawienie się uśmiechu na mojej zmanierowanej, recenzenckiej twarzy. Zabawne to! Drugi na płycie, wspomniany we wstępie „Fecal Deluxe Party” zaczyna się ciekawym, pulsującym basem. Jednak po chwili wszystko brzmi jak w otwierającym „La Nota Marrón”. Jak się okazuje, prawie każdy następny kawałek brzmi podobnie. Wokal - hiszpański, zniekształcony growlingiem język jest niemożliwy do zrozumienia - domyślam się jednak, że panowie śpiewają o niekoniecznie cenzuralnych rzeczach. Niektóre utwory rozpoczyna krótki wstęp, w języku hiszpańskim rzecz jasna (np. „La Venganza de los Coprofagos”, „El Modelo Shitman”), a „Lord of the Gas” - ryk świni? Kolejne utwory są wolne, walcowate i niezwykle ciężkie. Duża w tym zasługa mocno przesterowanych gitar i pulsującego basu („Las Tias Buenas No Cagan”, „Cagando en Argüelles” czy „Zombie Shit Eaters”), który jest jednym z jaśniejszych punktów albumu. Poza tym na krążku pojawiają się elementy punku („Salcedo`s Adventure”), death`n`rollu a`la CHROME DIVISION („La Cama Holandesa”), a nawet hiszpańskiego folku (ale tylko we wstępie do „Coproposicion Indecente” - po intro rozpoczyna się bezkompromisowa, death metalowa jazda). Na „hit” zakrawa z kolei umieszczony mniej więcej po środku longplaya utworu „Vejado por Gordas Depravadas”. Ponownie SLAYERowa perkusja, gruby bas i niemal rapowane zwrotki! Do tego prosty, ale wpadający w ucho riff. Płyta „Coprometidos con la Causa (Shit & Honor!)” jest wyprodukowana dość niechlujnie: słychać podziemny brud i garażowy mastering. Jak pisałem we wstępie, miłośnicy europejskiego (CARCASS) czy amerykańskiego (CANNIBAL CORPSE) grindu będą raczej uprzedzeni - grupie MOŃIGO bliżej klimatem do pierwszych płyt SEPULTURY niż do grindowo-deathowych klasyków. Mimo całej dziwności i pokręcenia tej płyty, ma ona swój specyficzny urok! Hasło „promocyjne” brzmi: „Przygotujcie się na biegunkę!” i myślę, że jeśli spróbujecie przesłuchać tego dziwnego materiału, możecie spodziewać się chorobowej reakcji układu pokarmowego! Pozwólcie więc MOŃIGO spowodować u Was i u Waszych sąsiadów niestrawność!
Moñigo is best translated as dung, and if you see the titles of the songs on this debut full-length of these guys from Madrid you know you’re dealing with some coprophiliacs, in proper English poo lovers. Filthy stuff in all its forms we all know by now since we have internet and because of all the grindcore acts that turned away from the initial political lyrics and started to sing about gore and porn. When listening to Moñigo you can’t deny that Germany’s gut must have been a huge influence. Due to the vocal effects Dutch act Last Days Of Humanity must have been an influences and bands like Mortician, Cock and Ball Torture or Mucupurulent had their impact too. Don’t expect anything new here as you have heard it all before except for the Spanish vocals perhaps.
