OUIJA, one of Spain's most legendary Black Metal acts (if not the most), who released the classic album "Riding Into the Funeral Paths" in '97 via Repulse Records and reunited in '09 releasing the comeback EP "Adversary" in late 2010, have finished recordings for their very long awaited 2nd album entitled "Ave Voluptatis Carnis".
The band, consisting on original vocalist Midgard (also in SPELLCRAFT) and original guitarist Map together with also SPELLCRAFT's members Fulgur (drums) & Murcilag (guitar) who also recorded the aforementioned EP, have replaced previous bass player with new one called Hastur. "Ave Voluptatis Carnis" was recorded at Nomad Studios and later mastered at swedish Necromorbus Studio obtaining a great result. Cover artwork was done by great spanish artist Igor Mugerza who also did the cover art for the latest SPELLCRAFT album.
OUIJA's new album continues the band's traditional style of first class intense and aggressive Black Metal full of killer riffs and melodies with varied and dynamic structures, making of this album an enjoyable experience and a fresh breath on this style full of so many average and futile bands that just only care about their fake image and boring simplistic songs.
The anticipated return of Spain's most legendary Black Metal band OUIJA is now embodied in form of a 4-song mini CD entitled "Adversary" which was recorded at Moontower Studios by Javi Bastard and later on mastered at famous swedish Unisound Studios by Dan Swanö, resulting on an astonishing recording which shows a more intense and dark side of OUIJA as well as keeping these awesome melodies and great song structures which will for sure please not only every long time fan of the band, but every lover of great quality Black Metal!! The band just signed a deal with XTREEM MUSIC for the release of their upcoming mini CD due to come out in fall 2010 and their long awaited 2nd full length album for 2011.
OUIJA released their debut album "Riding Into the Funeral Paths" back in 1997 on XTREEM MUSIC's former label REPULSE RECORDS and soon reached a high status as one of Spain's pioneer and most relevant Black Metal acts making of this album a true cult one!! The band later recorded a 2nd album which remained unfinished and wasted due to some circumstances and also provoked by the band's split-up. Ever since, vocalist Midgard has been working with also Black metallers SPELLCRAFT and it was in late '09 when he & Map decided to resurrect OUIJA ten years later and stronger than ever!!
The band is currently working on 4 new songs that will be recorded in later summer for a winter release and will mark the triumphant return of this mythic band whose Black Metal of ancient taste as well as personal, has been matured for years in the depths of hell.
