Without a doubt Kuopio's DEMILICH offer up a unique sick brand of Sludge Death Metal overladen with extreme guttural vocals. Antti Boman's singing is so outrageous that the band felt the need in the CD booklet to explain that no effects were used during recording.
The band was created during 1990, established by vocalist / guitarist Antti Boman, bass player Jussi Teräsvirta plus drummer Mikko Virnes. The cassette demos 'Regurgitation Of Blood' and 'The Four Instructive Tales... Of Decomposition' surfaced the following year, after which BARATHRUM guitarist Aki Hytönen was added to the roster. '...Somewhere Inside The Bowels Of Endlessness...' followed in 1992. At this juncture Ville Koistinen had assumed bass duties. Grinder Productions distributed a further 1992 demo dubbed 'The Echo'.
DEMILICH's commercial debut, 'Nespithe' in February 1993, was released by American label Necropolis and licensed by spanish label Repulse (later Xtreem Music). The European version adds four songs from the demo 'The Four Instructive Tales Of... Decomposition' as well as a different cover artwork. The CD was later bootlegged by some label (most probably german) stating Necropolis/Century Media as label & distirbutor for this release, but the fact is that none of these labels recognize this release on their roosters and judging by the poor printing quality, there's no doubt this was a bootleg.
During 2005 DEMILICH reformed and the line-up expanded by introducing guitarist SDS, from BLACK DEATH RITUAL, and bassist Korpse, of DEATHCHAIN, DE LIRIUM'S ORDER, TROLLHEIM'S GROTT, WINTERWOLF and TWISTED SILENCE. DEMILICH announced US tour dates for June 2006 supported by BIOLICH. DEMILICH bowed out with a swansong show in Kuopio, Finland on July 22nd, 2006.
Around the same time, in 2006, a compilation CD featuring all the band's demos was planned to be released by Xtreem Music under the title 'V34ish6ng 0f Emptiness' with an alternative title of 'Em9t2ness Of Van2s1ing' for the vinyl version that was supposed to come out by some other label. However, this plan was postponed over and over again and actually it's on stand by.
In early 2009, Xtreem Music decided to re-issue 'Nespithe' in a proper way with mastered sound for the first time ever, both on 12"LP, CD (with expanded design and doing the very first official shirt ever for this album design.
